QD Vision, Konka launch quantum dot TVs into China

Claim that Color IQ quantumdots have enabled Konka’s "most visually stunning" TVs so far.

"By 2025, 60% of TVs will use quantum dots", says Touch Display Research.

At last week's China Information Technology Expo (CITE), Konka, one of China’s leading HDTV manufacturers, unveiled a pair of new quantum dot UHD TVs based on QD Vision’s Color IQ optics.

The company says that QD Vision’s quantum dots enable Konka to deliver its "most visually-stunning TVs ever", featuring the company’s widest color range to date, stating, "At QD Vision, we are proud to help Konka bring the best possible viewing experience and value to customers.”

The new high-end TV models have features including larger size, higher resolution, Smart TV functionality, wide color gamut, and an ultra-slim design. Konka’s new models will be available for sale at leading Chinese retailers later in 2015, the company said.

“QD Vision’s Color IQ quantum dot technology helps make these new televisions among the best on the market,” said Zhimao Zhuo, Senior Product Manager, Konka. “They deliver a combination of sleek design and a stunning viewing experience.” Konka currently has what it calls a large share of the Chinese high-end television market and China represents almost two-thirds of global demand for UHD or 4K televisions, according to market analyst DisplaySearch.

'Biggest breakthroughs'

Dr. Jennifer Colegrove, CEO and principal analyst at Touch Display Research commented, "Quantum dot technology is one of the biggest breakthroughs for LCD developments in recent years. We are forecasting that, by 2025, 60% of TVs will feature quantum dots."
