Read DOT codes

The DOT code is of great importance in the production, allocation and tracing of tires. The COT code on the sidewalls of the tires must be recognized, read and documented. However, this is often difficult to recognize due to the low contrast between the characters and the tire surface or due to scratches. The EyeVision image processing software makes the recognition, reading and documentation of the DOT codes child’s play.
With the OCR tool of the EyeVision software, not only text can be read in 2D but also in 3D. The scan data of the 3D height maps or the 2D intensity data are used for this. The software then recognizes and extracts the character strings from the surface, such as the relief-like inscription on a car tire. The 3D OCR recognition is a valuable tool for inspection applications. Flat or embossed symbols are decoded. In addition to rubber and tires, the DOT codes, this is particularly important for applications in the automotive sector (stamped parts), batteries and packaging (marking and tracking).
A large number of industrial applications can be solved with the OCR tools. As a customer, you can easily decode 3D markings. Especially with embossed inscriptions that do not stand out in color from the background or are completely black on black, as is the case with car tires, the 3D OCR recognition has a clear advantage over 2D image capture. In addition, the entire range of EyeVision commands is available to you as the user, which means that there are many other possible applications such as checking stamped parts or component identification The OCR command can be added to every EyeVision 3D package. Thanks to the drag-and-drop function of the graphical user interface, you can create test programs even without any programming knowledge.

By integrating the image processing software EyeVision, medical mouth- and nose coverings can be checked for their quality. This enables precise compliance with the desired safety standards and prevents disruptions within the production line.

The system is autonomous, fully configured and can therefore be used immediately. The innovative EyeVision software guarantees a precise, error-free and fast inspection of the protective masks.

The software uses thermography to check the adhesive dots and seals, for example the rubber baths for attaching the mask to the ears. In addition, the Optical Character Recognition command (OCR command) of the EyeVision software can be used to inspect the printed text and number on the masks for correctness and legibility. At the same time, the attachment of the metal nosepiece is checked so that it does not damage the machines on the production line if it is incorrectly attached. EyeVision not only inspects the mask, but also its packaging through thermography. The image processing software can prevent contamination of the medical product by inspecting the weld seam of the plastic packaging.


Non-Destructive Testing (NDT)

The extended instruction set with solutions for Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) is now available within EyeVision 4. With this NDT instruction set, the detection of cavities or other structures within objects is now much easier. The variety of heat sources supported enables detection on many different materials. In addition to the LockIn basic solutions, process-based or impulse-based recognition of internal structures can now also be implemented more easily. With the new instructions, different layers of paint or structural damage in the carbon fiber material, but also any type of cavities in parts, for example in foam-based products such as dashboards, can be detected. With the support of the various thermal imaging camera manufacturers, Eye Vision Technology can find the right combination of camera and heat source or even passive heat. This selected combination is based on your product or your production process. Any errors in the thermal imaging technology are recognized by the EyeVision 4 software.

EVT homogeneity inspector

Quality is the key to success. Until a few years ago, customers tolerated slight scratches in homogeneous surfaces. Nowadays, however, the customer expects a flawless, scratch-free surface. The “traditional” image processing quickly reaches its limits because the errors that occur in an infinite number of variants and thus cannot be clearly described.

Deep learning or AI (artificial intelligence) in image processing is the key to success here. Eye Vision Technology has succeeded in integrating the complex functionality in an uncomplicated software command within the EyeVision image processing software. As a user, you do not have to deal with the complex artificial intelligence, but can adjust it to your application with just a few adjusting screws thanks to the homogeneity inspector.

A typical application of the homogeneity inspector is the detection of scratches in the stainless steel industry. If, for example, scratches and anomalies are detected in the raw material before a stamping process, these can be left out during the actual stamping process so that only scratch-free stamped parts are produced, the overall visual impression of which does not provide any reason for customer complaints.

But also large-scale abnormalities such as the structure of a surface can be checked and qualified with the homogeneity inspector. The homogeneity inspector helps you to achieve error-free and therefore more efficient production.
